Black gospel music has roots in the Black oral tradition—the passing down of history via the spoken word rather than in writing. In colonial America, where African slaves were prevented from being formally educated, oral and non-written communication became the method, such as singing in the fields.
Born and raised in Miami FL, Otis comes from a singing family , his Father a the lead singer of the quartet group the Creations, is where Otis got his start from. Otis is 5 of 14 kids. He's has sung and with the following gospel and secular groups: The Flowers Brothers, Cross Brothers, Vision, and Rynell Atkins, 40 Below, Playa, Suede and now a solo artist.
While being the vocalist that he is, Otis also wears the hat of music producer, and songwriter and recording engineer. Otis has also had the opportunity to work with the likes late great Betty Wright and collaborate with many other indie artist.
